Plot;;
Girls;You're on vacation in the beautiful beach of Ocean City,New Jersey with your friends and enough cash from your parents to party for three months, and that's exactly what you plan to do. After about three days of fun at the casinos in Atlantic City you and your girls decide to check out the beach for once. It's 5pm and your leaving to head for the board walk when he and his friends approach you. Maybe staying away from the parties and having real sober fun isn't such a bad idea.

Boys;You and your best friends moved away to Ocean City as soon as you graduated high school and got a job, settled down, made a life out of a vacation. You and your buds easily lost the appeal of the casinos after about two years, and now you spend your days on the beach and working on the boardwalk. You sometimes wonder what made you loose that thrill of life, or if you even lost it, maybe it's just sleeping? But one thing's for sure, she definitely brought that thrill right back.

Niki walked up onto the wooden boardwalk with a smile on her face, the beach air was refreshing. The place was covered with lights and people running around happily with friends, families, or boyfriends and girlfriends. She was wearing a pair of gray denim shorts that were made to look worn and tattered, and a black tank top. That was proper beach wear right? She ran a hand through her hair and then turned to Monáe,"So, what first? It's so big."

Bret climbed off the life-guard station and put his gear back into the shack then went to go find Dean, it was nice out tonight, however there was a bunch of idiots on the beach to day.Seriously, how tries to take a canoe out on a crowded beach like this one? He shook away the thought and brushed away any sand on his red swim trunks or white beater that he was made to wear for work.

Monáe ruffled her short curly hair, and shrugged her slim shoulders. The white material of her t-shirt was marred by a few large words scrawled across the front: One Love in the rastafarian colours. Her knee length denim cutoffs bore a few rips and scuffs, and several pictures drawn on with vivid marker. "I've got no idea," She replied cheerfully, her full lips stretching in a smile as her dark brown eyes surveyed the beach.

Dean slung his guitar over his back, the frayed rope it hung from pulled taught across his chest. His pockets jangled with the coins he'd made in the past hour and a half - a pretty good haul for a few songs. He often gigged at coffee houses and cafes along the beach front and boardwalk, but not today. He headed down onto the beach, his bare feet slipping into the still warm sand. He wore a plain grey shirt and a pair of cargo shorts and a beanie pulled over his ink black hair.

"Hmmm,"Niki though for a second as they started walking down the boardwalk, she weaved her way through the people while being sure to stay by Monáe. She smiled as she saw an ice cream shop by the boardwalk, it'd been forever since she had ice cream in a cone,"Before we doing anything I want one of those."

Bret stuffed his hands in the swim trunk's pockets and saw Dean walking onto the beach and smirked,"It's about time. Was your day as suckish as mine?" He sighed looking over by the water, as always, no one was really ever on the beach at night time, it was really kind of eerie actually.

Monáe grinned. "Sweet, let's do it." She replied, taking a few long easy strides towards the ice cream stand. Her height came in handy when in large crowds - she could see where she was going, and people noticed her, and tended to avoid her.

"Whatever man," Dean retorted, then shrugged. "My day was actually pretty good. Made twenty bucks." He grinned, sticking his thumb under the frayed rope.

Niki followed behind Monáe although Niki was petite, only at a height of five foot five inches. After getting in line she studied the menu, there were no gelatis here, which really sucked. She bit her lip a bit, deciding on just a chocolate cone. She grabbed a strand of her sandy brown hair and began to play with it, a habit she'd been in since one time in ninth grade her first boyfriend told her it was cute. It's just became second-nature to her ever since. Niki turned to face Monáe, still playing with the strand,"What're you getting?"

Bret began to move his fingers around in his pockets to find his keys, and of course, the weren't there. He groaned and ruffled his hair to show his frustration,"What the bloody hell!? I forgot my keys at the ice cream stand while I was on break. This is really just my lucky day isn't it?"

Monáe shrugged, surveying the menu, one eyebrow raised. A six foot one, she was pretty tall for a girl. She shrugged again, then ran a hand through her hair to push it out of her eyes. "I think... I think I'll have..." She was always like this when it came to making decisions about buying food. "I'll have a passionfruit ice cream." She said, stepping up to the counter. "And a chocolate cone for my friend." She said to the vendor, who started to make them. Monáe lent against the counter.

Dean laughed loudly. "Bahaha, shame man. C'mon, we'll go get them." He said, still grinning. He was one of those people who tended to find other people's misfortune incredibly amusing, especially if it was Bret who was unfortunate.

Niki smiled sweetly at the cashier, he was cute, and she was quite the flirt. Sometimes people get the term flirt and slut confused because they're immature idiots. However, idiots or not, people talk and she gets a lot of grief because of it, well sort of. For the most part, guys talk to her because hey, who doesn't love a whore. And the girls mainly because they figure if they're on Niki's good side their boyfriend won't be stolen. So childish.

"Thanks, your such a great friend Dean. So generous I could die,"Bret rolled his eyes approaching the ice cream stand. He started to smile a bit when he saw two girls waiting in line, he nudged Dean's arm and gestured his chin towards the girls. He took out his lucky coin, passed down from each generation, and kissed it,"Looks like my luck is finally making an appearance."

"Dude, the kissing the coin thing is really creepy." Dean said, edging away for Bret. He cast his eyes over the girls, and grinned. "Dibs on the short one." He said, tucking his hands into his pockets.

Monáe raised an eyebrow at Niki as if to say 'girl, seriously?' and then cast her eye around, observing the scene around her with mild interest. The ice cream guy sure was taking his time - too busy eyeing up Niki, she decided. Monáe drummed her fingers on the counter, and the ice cream guy looked at her. Monáe could be a little intimidating at times, and this was one of them.

Niki gave Monáe a returning look to say,'don't judge me' then returned her eyes to the ice cream dude. She knew she might be digging herself into a hole, but the truth is, 'serious relation ship' was a term long lost once her parents split when she was fifteen. And honestly, it was a lot more fun this way. She put a hand over Monáe's to put her drumming to a stop.

Bret shrugged the distance to the shop getting smaller,"Both of your comments can kiss my ass. I want the tall one anyway, she looks like she'll be hard to crack. Should be interesting. And this coin is like a hundred years old, so shut up." He cut in front of the line smiling slyly at the girls, noticing the guy concentrating on Niki,"Hey! Jordan, left my keys here. And dude, the cone is overflowing."

"A hundred years old? That is so nasty, I cannot even begin to describe it." Dean muttered, pulling his guitar around and beginning to play softly as he walked up the line. A few people in the line recognized him - he was pretty infamous around these parts, being that weird black kid who never wore shoes and always played the guitar.

Monáe grinned as she heard the familiar chords begin to play. She loved Bob Marley, and Jammin' was one of her favourites. She glanced at the player, and grinned before looking back to the ice cream guy. "Yeah Jordan, what he said." She agreed, baring her teeth in a grin.

Niki laughed a little paying the guy and grabbing her ice cream cone as he handed it to her,"Thanks." She turned to look at the boys who just arrived and smiled,she nodded towards the guitar, Niki played herself down at a cafe back at home,"How long have you been playing?"

Bret grabbed his keys from Jordan and gave him a warning look, Jordan was a new kid, he just started working her and he's not quite used to the girls just yet. Then again, he was that way when he was eighteen too, and these girls were a lot better looking than the usual, but still, overflowing ice cream? He turned to Monáe and smirked again,"I'm Bret, and you're name is?"

Dean grinned at the girl who had just questioned him. "Since I was six, but I started on the ukulele when I was five" He answered. "You play?" He kept his fingers moving in the chords. He could play this song in his sleep - one of the first he'd learnt. "I'm Dean, by the way. A pleasure to make your acquaintance Miss...?"

Monáe took her ice cream from the kid named Jordan. "Thanks Jordan, you're a real pal." She said, dropping a few coins on the counter. He looked kinda uncomfortable - Monáe tended to have that affect on people. She glanced at the guy who had just spoken, her eyebrow arching once more at the smirk on his face. She could tell exactly what he wanted. "I'm Monáe, what's it to you?"

"Cool,"She smirked then nodded a yes at his question,"Yeah I play, since I was eight, and piano since I was big enough to reach the keys." She stepped out of the front of the line not giving Jordan a second glance, she tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear,"I'm Niki, by the way."

Bret chuckled,"Oh nothing much,"He ran a hand through his hair and turned to Jordan and leaned against the counter,"If you're going to stare, you should probably make it less obvious. Your hand is covered in ice cream dude." Bret pushed his palms against the counter to become upright again then looked at Monáe,"What're you two at the OC for?"

Dean grinned. "Cool." He replied, sketching a bow to some guy who'd just tossed him a five dollar bill. "Thank you sir, much obliged." He said, never ceasing playing. He turned his attentions back to Niki, a grin still on his face. "I haven't seen you around here before..."

Monáe raised a brow, licking her ice cream thoughtfully. "Again - what's it to you?" She asked, leaning against the counter as the kid Jordan started to pack things away, closing down for the night.

"It's nothing special, I don't plan to make it a career or anything. I'm in college for law, writing, and Greek Mythology." Niki licked her ice cream and shrugged,"And that's cause I don't come here often. I'm a bit of a country bumpkin."

"If you're here to party you'd better watch out, Atlantic City is dangerous. No matter how tough you think you are, you're still a girl. And if you're not careful, I'll meet you again on the front page. That's why,"Bret explained then pointed at her nose,"You've got a little something on your face."

Monáe growled softly, her eyes narrowing. "I'm still a girl? Kid, I can handle myself a hell of a lot better than you could. Compared to my old neighbour hood, this is the fucking Ritz." She retorted, and turned on her heel, grabbing Niki's arm as she went. "C'mon Niki, before I punch this dumbshits lights out." She murmured, pulling Niki forcefully away.

Dean arched an eyebrow. "See you round, doll." He called, waving his fingers at Niki before turning to Bret. "Good one man, good one. And that is why you never score."

"Sure thing,"Niki smiled waving him a goodbye then turning all the way around to continue walking with Monáe toward their rented beach house. She pulled her arm out of her grasp and in turn hooked arms with her as a form of comfort,"You okay there?"

Bret waved goodbye with a pleased smile on his face, then glared at Dean from the corner of his eyes. He shoved him with a little force,"Shut up I know what I'm doing. I have a plan. And I'm so sorry I don't 'score' as much as you do, I prefer not to be known as a play boy."

"I'm fine." Monáe grumbled, brushing her fingers against her nose surreptitiously. There was nothing there. Her eyes narrowed further.

"And does that plan involve that angry chick ripping your head off?" Dean asked, shoving him back. "Because she seems like one of those girls who would really like to bang your head against the floor until you stop talking."

Niki frowned a little, she tended to let other people's emotions affect her own quite often. She turned the corner onto her street and bit her lip a little,"Those boys we met were pretty cute. I mean they weren't covered in ice cream or anything."

"Who cares?"Bret shrugged taking a long step down the few steps it took to come down from the boardwalk,"I'm not going to pretend to be some deep striving artist when I'm really a thick headed life guard, and as long as I stick by that I should be fine." Bret chuckled a little bit,"Anyway, I just broke it off with the ex, so maybe it's best if she hates me."

Monáe shrugged halfheartedly, taking a bite of her ice cream. "Mhm." She muttered, running her fingers through her hair.

Dean fell into step beside him, pushing his guitar around to rest against his back once more. "If you're gonna be a real life guard, you gotta do some real slow mo runs." He retorted, grinning, and began to demonstrate.
